Mother daughter duo Louise and Sarah Silk want you to embrace the beauty of reusing over discarding. Together they created their slow fashion line SilkDenim, based in Pennsylvania, fearlessly up-cycling 100% recycled materials and emphasizing hand crafting. After collecting worn clothing, the duo rework by hand denim fabric at different stages of their wear, altering and reusing some of the authentic utilitarian details from the discarded pieces, seeking out imperfections, fading, and holes as signs of the garment’s memories. The result doesn’t disappoint: one-of-a-kind inventive designs, as easy to love as their conscious vision of a more sustainable way of consuming.
