Western Africa have a rich history of dyeing textiles with indigo. These traditional cloths hail from the West African Republic of Mali, where the artisans are well known for their intricate and very decorative dyeing techniques, a century-old tradition. The cotton fabric is traditionally handwoven by the men, while the women are responsible for tie-and-dying it, and sewing the strips together. They can be used as wall hangings, table runners, throws for your home or picnic blankets.
